Air is a French music duo, consisting of Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel. The name Air is an backronym for "Amour, Imagination, Rêve" which translates to "Love, Imagination, Dream".

Air's debut EP, "Premiers Symptômes", was followed by the critically acclaimed album "Moon Safari", and then for the wonderful Soundtrack of Sofia Coppola's "The Virgin Suicides". In 1999 they launched "10.000 Hz Legend", an acclaimed album about minimalism and futurism. With the awardee italian writer Alessandro Baricco, they presented the album "City Reading: Tre Storie Western", readings of the book City (Baricco reading and Air with the background music). 2004 was the year of "Talkie Walkie", that includes the song Alone in Kyoto, composed to Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation. In 2007 they are back with "Pocket Symphony" released on March 5, 2007. The album features former Pulp vocalist Jarvis Cocker and Neil Hannon of The Divine Comedy, and is produced by Nigel Godrich. Air went on a European tour in March, followed by a North America tour that included an infamous Coachella appearance, where the band showed up 45 minutes late for their 50 minute set. They will play at major festivals both in Europe and Japan during the summer and then continue touring for the rest of 2007.
